Diversification Dodgeball
Compare concentrated and diversified portfolios.
StockSt uses fictional currency and simulated shares for education only. This is not investment advice.
Setup
- Divide the class into two portfolio types. Team Concentration may own only one or two shares. Team Diversification must own at least five shares across three categories, with no share above 25%.
- Run three market events: one positive, one negative, and one category-wide shock.
- After each event, teams calculate the change in their portfolio value.
Scoring
Teams record their portfolio change after each event. Award points for accurate calculations and clear explanations rather than for which portfolio type came out ahead.
