Three-Share Safety Challenge

Introduce diversification.

StockSt uses fictional currency and simulated shares for education only. This is not investment advice.

Setup

  1. Give each team the same fictional budget.
  2. Each team must buy exactly three shares from at least two different categories.
  3. The teacher triggers one negative event that affects one category.
  4. Teams calculate the starting portfolio value, the ending portfolio value, which share hurt the portfolio most, and why owning different categories helped.

Scoring

The team with the clearest explanation of diversification earns a bonus, even if its portfolio did not perform best.

Teacher debrief

Have teams share how their category mix changed the effect of the negative event. Ask, “Would your result have been different if all three shares were in the same category?”
