Grades 3–5 · Lesson 5 · 45 minutes

Simulation showcase

Students present a simple portfolio and reflect on what they learned.

StockSt uses fictional currency and simulated shares for education only. This is not investment advice.

Warm-up

Ask students to turn to a neighbor and share one thing they remember from this unit, such as a new word, a price that moved, or a choice they made.

Mini-lesson

Model a completed “My Celebrity Portfolio” page on the board, pointing out each required part and showing how to write a clear sentence about a lesson learned. Keep this to a few minutes so students have time to work.

StockSt activity

  1. Students prepare a one-page “My Celebrity Portfolio” that includes: the three shares they own; the starting value and the current value; one event that changed a price; and one lesson they learned.
  2. Hold a gallery walk or short presentations so students can see each other’s portfolios and explain their choices.
  3. Closing reminder: review that StockSt uses fictional coins and simulated shares, so this is practice and not real investing.

Discussion

Lead a class reflection around the question, “What would you do differently next time?” Encourage students to name a choice, not just an outcome.

Exit ticket

Students finish the sentence, “Next time, I would…” and add one fact about why StockSt uses fictional coins.

Assessment

Completed portfolio page plus a verbal or written reflection. This lesson is a good place to use the full elementary rubric as a summative assessment.
